An adjective is a word or phrase that describes a noun. Adjectives usually answer questions such as: "What kind is it?", "How many are there?", or "Which one is it?" Today's sites explore adjectives with articles, lessons and worksheets for grades K-12.

For example, looking at apples you can compare their size, determining which is big, which is bigger, and which is biggest." "Unlike adverbs, which often seem capable of popping up almost anywhere in a sentence, adjectives nearly always appear immediately before the noun or noun phrase that they modify. Sometimes they appear in a string of adjectives, and when they do, they appear in a set order according to category." These basic and intermediate worksheets are quite varied. Some require underlining the adjectives, others invite you to write sentences using adjectives, and some ask you to determine whether the adjectives tell which one, how many or what kind. Each worksheet includes a short description, an estimate of how long the activity will take, and a list of standards met. The majority of these worksheets are free, but a few are reserved for paying members only.
