Many of the Surfnetkids games and other online animations require Java, a programming language built into many browsers (but not WebTV.)
Step 1) Check your browser version number by clicking on "Help" / "About". If you have a browser version 4 or earlier, you'd better upgrade. After all, it's free. Internet Explorer can be downloaded here; Netscape is available here; and click here for Mozilla Firefox. Step 2 for Netscape) Click "Edit" / "Preferences" / "Advanced." If you see a small check box next to "Enable Java" you are in the right box. Now click on the two boxes labeled "Enable Java" and "Enable Javascript." You're done! Step 2 for Firefox) Click "Tools" / "Options" / "Web Features." Check the boxes next to "Enable Java" and "Enable Javascript." You're done! Step 2 for Internet Explorer) Click "Tools"/ "Internet Options" / "Advanced" and then scroll down to Java VM and check box labeled "Java JIT compiler enabled." Step 3 for Internet Explorer) If you do not see a Java checkbox as above (because of recent decision not to bundle Java with Internet Exlorer), you need to download the Java Runtime Environment directly from Sun Microsystems.
