Barbara J. Feldman
Dear Barbara,

This week was another fun one for me, as I spent my time figuring out how to add postcards (also known as e-cards) to FreeKidsColoring.com. Now, you can send ANY of our coloring pages as a coloring page postcard to a friend.

What exactly is a coloring page postcard? It is an e-card with a personalized note from you that includes a link to a coloring page of your choice. For example, for Valentine’s Day, you might choose one of our love bird pages, or for President’s Day, you can select from George Washington or Abe Lincoln. If you have young nieces, nephews or grandchildren, I think these are a fun way to keep in touch.

To send a postcard, first find the picture you want to include, and then click on the “Send as Postcard” link below the thumbnail.

Oh, and please let me know what you think of them:

See ya on the Net,
Barbara J. Feldman

Riddles Printable (** for premium members only)

What gets wetter and wetter the more it dries? What can you catch but not throw? What goes around the world but stays in a corner? No sooner spoken than broken. What is it?* If you enjoy a challenge, then today’s mind-bending riddle sites are for you.

Brain Food
“Puzzles For the Brain To Gnaw On.” Brain Food’s puzzle collections includes hundreds of problems organized into seven categories: Logic Puzzles, Word Puzzles, Lateral Thinking Puzzles, Tricky Puzzles, Word Boxes, Numbered Puzzles, and Logi-Number Puzzles. You’ll find the Groaners listed under Tricky Puzzles. “I have two U.S. coins that add up to fifty-five cents. One is not a nickel. What are they?” Click Solution to reveal “A nickel and a half dollar. Only one is not a nickel.” I can hear you groaning from here.

Education Place: Brainteasers
These brain teasers are mathematical puzzlers that require logical thinking. Three new teasers for grades three through seven are posted each Wednesday, along with the previous week’s answers. If you crave more puzzles, prowl the archives for three week’s worth of questions and answers.
“In solving the Brain Teasers it helps to have a working procedure. You might want to consider this four-step procedure: Understand, Plan, Try It, and Look Back.”

NIEHS Kids Page: Brainteasers
“Scientists get to solve puzzles every day, because science and research involve finding solutions from the clues that we are given. Just like with brainteasers and riddles, the answers to science mysteries are not always easy to see at first. With time and effort, they eventually become clear.” Unique sections in this National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences site are Palindromes, Optical Illusions, and the Mind Over Matter trick.

Dear Barbara,
I am a computer technology integration teacher at a middle school in Bethany, CT. I forwarded your newsletter to our music teacher and then took some time to explore the links myself. I have to tell you how much I am enjoying the link to the Classics for Kids: Musical Dictionary Site. I have listened to a number of exerpts from the radio show and have been thrilled by each and every one. What a wonderful resource. Learning is truly a life-long occupation, and even at 58 years old, I am excited to revisit themes I was exposed to in introductory music classes back in high school and college but have long forgotten.
Thank you so much for bringing this wonderful resource to our attention.
Carolyn Stanley

Dear Carolyn,
Thank you, but what’s with the “even at 58” remark? Don’t you know that today’s 58 is yesterday’s 48? As Abraham Lincoln said “And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.”
