John Lennon (9 October 1940 – 8 December 1980) was an English musician and songwriter who rose to fame as one of The Beatles. After two decades of worldwide fame, he was shot to death by a deranged fan in front of his New York city apartment building. His music lives on.
Bio: John Lennon Biography
“Pop star, composer, songwriter, and recording artist. John Winston Lennon was born October 9, 1940, in Liverpool, Merseyside, NW England, UK, during a German air raid in World War II. When he was four years old, Lennon’s parents separated and he ended up living with his Aunt Mimi.” This Lennon biography features quick facts, three videos, a photo gallery, and a quote sidebar. I recommend starting with the Mini Bio video, which is easy to do since it auto-starts when you land here.
Bagism
“Bagism is the place for fans of John Lennon and The Beatles to come together and learn, educate, and have fun.” This Lennon fan page includes web chat and boards (as with all public forums, these may not be appropriate for all ages), discography, library of articles, book reviews, gallery of fan art and poetry, and a links database. There is also a ten-question interactive quiz created on-the-fly from a database of over 300 questions, so you can take it multiple times. “While in Hamburg, Germany, what did Paul, George, and Pete dare John to do, which he did?”
John Lennon
“While in The Beatles, Lennon displayed an outspokenness that immersed the band in controversy and helped redefine the rules of acceptable behavior for rock stars.” John’s official site includes a biography written by music-critic Anthony DeCurtis (of Rolling Stone magazine), a discography of his work after The Beatles as a solo artist and with Yoko Ono, a photo gallery, and a small collection of music videos.
