If you thought the closest you'd get to being a game show contestant was shouting at your television, I've got a treat for you. Now you can play your favorite television game shows from the comfort of your home computer. Have fun, but don't hog that seat! Remember to give everyone in the family a chance.

"Name something dogs are afraid of." Thirty-seven people out of a hundred answered "Thunder," making it the number one response. I should have known this! Our dog Kia (now in doggie heaven) went completely ballistic over thunder. For some reason, however, the only thing that came to mind was the number three answer "Cats." Kia loved cats, but my mind just went blank and it was the best I could come up with. You must be eighteen to register (so kids can only play with their parents) and some families might object to the casino ads that run between games.

"Odds & Ends" for $300. The answer is "To speak this language, transpose the first consonant of each word to the end and add 'ay'." And the question is "What is Pig Latin?" In addition to the free game (that does not require registration) you can download a sixty-minute free trial of Jeopardy Deluxe or buy a version for your mobile phone. There is also a link to the main official Jeopardy site, where you can learn about being a contestant, watch Clue Crew video clips, and find out about local Jeopardy Brain Bus events.

This is the British version of the game, so you will be playing in pound sterling, not dollars. Since the winnings are all virtual anyway, I can't see that it matters much. "Your aim is to answer enough questions correctly to reach your one thousand pound target within the time limit. The fastest way is to create a chain of nine correct answers. Get your question wrong and you break the chain, and lose all the money in that chain."

Another great game implementation from Sony! No registration is required to play Wheel of Fortune online, but you will need Windows and Internet Explorer. In addition to game play, you can click around to download a free Wheel of Fortune Deluxe trial or purchase a mobile phone version. Visit the official Wheel of Fortune site to learn about being a show contestant, or to find out when the Wheelmobile is going to be in your neighborhood.

"Let's play Who Wants to be a Millionaire? You have thirty seconds to answer each question. Remember no actual prizes or money are awarded." Since no registration is required, this game can be enjoyed by all ages. And enjoy I did. With three lifelines ( 50/50, Call a Friend, and Ask the Audience) this plays just like the television version. My downfall was this $64,000 question: "Which of the following was gunned down while playing cards in a saloon: Buffalo Bill Cody, Wild Bill Hickok, Billy the Kid, or Jesse James."
