Little Bird Tales is an eco-conscious alternative for creating photo books, scrapbooks or personalized storybooks as keepsakes. Little Bird Tales encourages creativity and fosters reading and writing skills by allowing kids to be a part of the storytelling process, while providing parents with a “green” alternative to how they share and distribute their family memories.
Kids can share photos, artwork, or create pictures online using the art pad. The most unique feature, however, is the ability for kids to record their voice or other audio to each page of the slide show format book! Everything is done online using a super simple interface designed for children! Kids can even share their creations by putting their stories in the public library, which is strictly monitored to make sure public stories are appropriate for kids.
This site has NO ads, merchandising, links or other distracting and sometimes worrisome content. It’s fun, safe, eco-friendly and allows kids to share their very unique perspective quickly and easily. www.littlebirdtales.com

A brand new site specifically designed for children to share images, teach each other and learn all about photography. The site is Safe Surf rated and totally secure. All postings are moderated prior to release on the site and no contact details are allowed to be posted. The images are posted into age/peer group categories and there is an additional workshop category to post shots and ask for advice and assistance. We think this will be an excellent teaching and learning tool for children and one in which that the added security will be welcomed by parents.

Online community whose aim is to show in pictures how the world has changed through time. HistoGrafica’s users upload old pictures of all places around the world, place them on a map and tag by time. This way they are creating an archive where visitors can look up a town or a street and see what that place looked like 50 years ago, 30 years ago and so on.

I wanted to suggest adding Pixamo to your photo sharing article. We’ve tried all the other services you mentioned, but settled on Pixamo for sharing our family videos and photos because of the powerful privacy options offered. Instead of the typical private, public, and friends only privacy settings, Pixamo lets you create your own sharing groups with certain visibility options for each. All friends and family can be placed into these customized groups and you can control privacy on a photo by photo/video by video basis, making certain photographs or videos visible to only some friends, family members, or acquaintances; the controls are 100% in your hands.
