This diary it the true story of the Irish immigration of 16 year old Susan McGuirk, traveling alone to the bustling whaling port of Sag Harbor, New York in 1845. We follow Susan's journey from plucky girl to matriarch of a large extended family throughout the Hamptons on the east end of Long Island. It is based on extensive research conducted by Susan's namesake and great, great granddaughter.
