The Duke University Primate Center in Durham, N.C., houses the world's largest collection of endangered primates. Meet some of the center's strange and beautiful lemur babies in a slide show with audio commentary by the center's assistant director.
April 22, 2001 -- From Jim Cornish, a teacher from Gander, Newfoundland, Canada who is affiliated with the site
This series of pages on endangered species contains lists of links that cover the causes of endangerment and the warning signs. It also lists endangered species sites for Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, the United States and the world.
January 7, 2000 -- From Deb D., a parent from New England, USA who is not affiliated with the site
My son and I discovered this site while homeschooling last year, and even though he's back in public school this year, I held onto the link. Alaska's Fish and Game Department does a wonderful job of providing descriptions and sketches of native wildlife, much of which is native to other regions of the U.S. Anytime one of my children needs to look up something on a wild animal, we hit this site first.
August 24, 1999 -- From a parent from Honolulu, Hawaii who is affiliated with the site
Excellent site for students of all ages interested in how scientists are working to protect and save Hawaii's environment and endangered species. The site interactively tracks research cruises on monk seals, albatross, lobsters, oceanography, and fisheries. Students can send questions directly to the ship and recieve answers from an officer aboard the ship. The site updates twice a week with writeups and photos of operations. This is a great site for anyone interested in "hands on" field research on endangered animals and Hawaii's unique environment.

ES2000 - Endangered Species of the Next Millennium" is a project undertaken to unravel the cruel fact that we, human beings, are the ultimate cause of the disappearing Animal Kingdom. Through our content sections, we aim to instill a sense of responsibility in our readers to help curb the worsening depletion of other living species on earth. Users will journey thorough the "What?", "Why?" and "How?" sections, enriching themselves with information about Endangered Species, after which they will be able to test themselves with the sectional quizzes. Other sections include the Species Profiles, where users immerse themselves and get acquainted with the different endangered species that exist throughout the world. The species communication panels allow users to track the latest developments of profiled species through other users. The media gallery houses the images, videos and sound snippets of endangered species that the team has collated throughout the creation of! the entry. The site also features a highly interactive story, whereby users take on the role of animal protectors in search for stolen endangered species, enriching themselves as they plod along the treacherous environments. We present to you ES2000, a comprehensive site on Endangered Species. By students, for students.
August 21, 1999 -- From a teacher from NJ/USA who is affiliated with the site
The site features extensive info on endangered species (causes, categories, specifics on each species, links, how to help etc.)but also has a local focus - Think Globally, Act Locally - on the state of New Jersey. Created by 3 sixth graders & 2 teacher/coaches (I am one of those) because there were NO sites about endangered species in our state. It has been endorsed by the state's Dept of Environmental Protection and was a Gold Award winner in the 1999 ThinkQuest competition.
