Thanksgiving Crafts

Thanksgiving Crafts

With cooler, shorter fall days, now is the perfect time to gather round the kitchen table with construction paper, glue, paint and scissors to make some Thanksgiving crafts. I could never design any of these clever craft projects myself, but I do know where to find them online. Remember, it’s not about coloring within the lines or cutting along them, it’s just about having fun and being together. Enjoy!

Better Homes & Gardens: Thanksgiving Crafts5 stars

These Thanksgiving craft projects run the gamut from Kids' Crafts (scroll down the page) to hostess gifts, but all are illustrated and well documented. One preschool craft that caught my eye was the Turkey Keeper made with construction paper outlines of your child's hands and feet. "Write the date on the back of the turkey so you can remember, in the years to come, when it was that your children really were this small."

Danielle's Place: Thanksgiving Crafts and Activities5 stars

Although Danielle's Place features bible-based crafts, these Thanksgiving crafts are suitable for families of all faiths. Highlights include several paper-plate turkeys, a cute napkin holder, and a leaf wreath. Many of the illustrated crafts include printable templates to cut, color and glue, although a few of the printable items are only available to paying members.

DLTK-Kids: Thanksgiving Activities3 stars

At DLTK, it's not just about Thanksgiving crafts, but also about online games (Thanksgiving Word Searches and Jigsaws), recipes ("some for mom, some for kids"), songs, greeting cards, coloring pages, and printables. A few of my favorites were printable Thanksgiving Bingo cards (great for an after dinner game, look in Printables) and Autumn Leaf Turkey (found in Turkey Crafts.)

Free Kids Crafts: Thanksgiving Crafts5 stars

"Kids know that Thanksgiving is not just turkeys! You'll find Native American crafts, place settings to make and even simple recipes for kids. It is a time for giving Thanks for all the good things in our life." One craft that caught my eye was the Bubble Wrap Indian Corn, where bubble wrap is dipped in white and yellow paint and then pressed onto corn-shaped construction paper. Sounds like so much fun. Who can resist playing with bubble wrap?
