Pros And Cons of YouTube

Email this page to a friend with a personal message

What are the pros and cons of YouTube? The inclusion of public media into our entertainment and information world is more important than ever. YouTube is joining in that race of gaining the highest level of viewers in order to bring the world the best service for public media that is possible.

With this in mind, you can see that there will be pros and cons with the use of YouTube both for the viewers and the people who are posting the videos. However, if you consider the pros and cons you can essentially weigh out and come to the same conclusion as many. YouTube and other public media is here to stay, and that really is a good thing.

Here are the pros to YouTube.

•Using YouTube to reach the media is cheap and easy.
•YouTube will show most any video
•The service is clean and clear
•YouTube has a wide variety of videos, infomercials, how to videos and much more
•You can stay up to date with the new videos at YouTube
•Expressing your creativity through YouTube is a major benefit
•Getting to know people through YouTube is great
•Learning through YouTube is great
•You can get a good deal of information to many people in a short amount of time
•Becoming a member is easier
•Ease of use
•No need for tons of equipment, computer, video equipment, microphone and editing software
•Saves money on marketing

Here are the cons to YouTube

•This is public, so anyone can see the videos you post
•Anyone for the most part can post a video
•There is violence on some of the videos on the site
•There are explicit videos
•There is some animal abuse in the videos
•Teens are recording violence to post on YouTube
•There could be issues of privacy invasion
•There could be copyright infringement issues

When you look at the pros and cons, you can see that the pros heavily outweigh the cons. There are things that we can do to make sure that the cons are not what make our lives hard when we view and post with YouTube:

Start out with never posting your real name and personal information when you post a video. Use a fake name, and only an email address that does not have any of your personal information.

Make sure that if it is young viewers or teens watching, that you monitor what they watch. This is a good way to prevent the negative influences out there.

Keep in mind that there are laws about what you use when creating video.

Use your critical thinking when allowing contact from others in YouTube in your real life.

Here are some things to keep in mind when you are creating your YouTube video.

Only make the video as long as it needs to be. Short and to the point is usually the way to go. This is especially true if it is any kind of advertising, training or marketing.

Use good sound. No matter what the video is like, if the sound is good, people will listen.

Avoid any type of spam approach. This can cause for the viewers to completely avoid all videos you make.

These are the pros and cons of YouTube. As stated above, the pros really do outweigh the cons. So take some time to get out there and see what it is all about. The site really is worth viewing.
