Email this page to a friend with a personal message

Second Life is a virtual world that has been created solely by its Residents. In some aspects Second Life is similar to a game, but it fails to meet some of the vital requirements that are required for it to be classified as a game. Regardless of how you think of it, Second Life is a virtual world for you to play and have fun in. In Second Life you can be anybody you want to be because you create the avatar you are going to be. Even though many people have heard of Second Life not everybody is aware of how easy it is to create a Second Life account.

Difficulty rating: Easy

Step One:

The first thing that you are going to need to do is to go to the Second Life website. You can find the website at Second Life.

Step Two:

Once you have gone to their website you are going to need to click on the box that says Sign Up now.

Step Three:

Once you have clicked on that box you are going to find yourself at the beginning of the sign up process. The sign up process is going to require you to complete a few basics steps sop that you can create an account for Second Life.

Step Four:

The first step is your Second Life registration. Here you are going to need to enter in some basic details. The first thing you are going to need to do is to figure out a first name for your avatar. The good news is that this name can be anything that you want it to be and can start with either upper or lowercase letters. After deciding on your first name you are going to need to choose a last name for your avatar. Unlike with first names the last names are already chosen for you and all you can do is pick one from the drop down menu. But even though the last names are already chosen for your avatar there are quite a few to choose from. Something that you need to keep in mind when it comes to choosing a name is that your name can not be changed later on in the game so be sure of your name before you create it.

Step Five:

After choosing a first and last name for your avatar you are going to need to enter in your real birth date. The reason that you need to provide your actual birth date is that it is going to be used to verify your account just in case you forget your password or your Second Life name.

Step Six:

Next you are going to need to enter in a valid email address so that you can actually activate your account. The email address you enter will not be given out to anybody unless you give your permission for it to be released to third parties.

Step Seven:

After completing those basic details you are going to move onto the next step of creating an account and that is choosing your avatar. Currently you have six choices and you also have the choice of making the avatar male or female. If you do not wish to complete this step at the time you can choose to skip the step and continue on with creating an account.

Step Eight:

Now you are going to have to complete the step that asks for your personal information, password, security questions, and whether you want to receive news and updates, any promotional codes you have. You will also need to type in the codes that you see on the screen and agree to the terms of service before you can continue on.

Step Nine:

The next thing that you are going to need to do is to decide one what kind of an account you want. You have two choices, the first choice is you can sign up for the free account or you can upgrade to the premium account. If you choose the premium account you will receive certain things that that the free accounts don't receive, but you will also need to choose a billing method for this type of account. Your choices are monthly, quarterly or annually.
