Windows Update

by Barbara J. Feldman on May 11, 2004

To keep your Windows system safe from viruses such as the Sasser Worm you need to install all the latest Windows security patches. To configure Windows XP or Windows 2000 to automatically download vital updates, click on Start/ Settings/Control Panel/System and choose the Automatic Updates tab. Check the box that says “Keep my computer up to date.” Now select the level of automation you want. If you choose one of the first two options, you will be notified when updates are available, and you will need to click to get them installed. The third option lets you set a daily or weekly schedule to automate the entire process.
