Valentine’s Day is a fun time of year for people of all ages. Children are especially excited when Valentine’s Day comes around because of all the activities, crafts and treats that are associated with the holiday. Kids love to make and give gifts, so why not take some time to learn about a couple of Valentine’s Day crafts that would be fun to make at home and either give as a gift or use as a holiday decoration. Here are some examples of fun Valentine’s Day crafts that have an animal theme.

“Bee” mine

To make a bee valentine, you will need a toilet paper tube, some construction paper and a black pipe cleaner. First, cover the tube in paper. This will be the body of the bee. Paint stripes on the paper. Next, cut a circle just large than the opening at the end of the roll of toilet paper. This will be the face of the bee. Once the circle is cut, draw the face onto the bee and use two halves of the pipe cleaner for the antennae paste the face onto the tube so that it covers one of the openings. Trace out the shape of a heart on the construction paper and cut it out. Place the heart on the back of the bee so that the point of the heart faces the bee’s head. This heart forms the bee’s wings. You can apply this same craft idea to other winged insects, like butterflies, by changing the shape of the heart wings on the back of the bug and by making changes in the way that the insect is decorated.
