Coasters

CoastersUsually the simplest designs are the best for kids to start out with. But the patterns they can handle depend on their age, their previous experience with needlework and how quickly they learn new things. One of the easiest crafts for kids to make is a coaster. It is only a two dimensional project and doesn’t require a lot of thought about where things are supposed to go and how they should be connected. Because coasters are also very useful in the house for protecting the tables and other furniture you use, this craft can be useful in more than one way. You could also use it as a teaching opportunity to explain what water or condensation from cold drinks do to wood when they are left too long without being cleaned up. Hopefully, this will also make your kids more excited to use them when they have a soda or drink on the table. They can be proud of the craft they made and use it for a good reason. A coaster design can be very simple. A square one is the easiest to make because square plastic canvas is the easiest to come by and also the easiest to work with. But there are also round and other geometrically shaped canvas sheets that can be used for coasters.
