This winter when it’s cold outside gather your friends and family (especially your kids) to try these easy to do winter crafts. While the weather outside may be frightful there will be lots of fun inside as you create lasting memories of fun and creativity. Here are some ideas for easy to do winter crafts-
Toilet paper penguin-This is a cute little penguin that is both fun and easy to make. While you can find penguin templates online do not be afraid to stretch your creative muscles and decorate your penguin freehand.

What you will need for each penguin-

Instructions for the project: Cover your tube completely with black construction paper. You will need to have the following penguin parts: a tummy (think oval with one straight side), two wings (think large raindrop shape), a beak (a diamond folded in half), and two webbed feet. Start by tracing the tummy onto white construction paper and cut out. Next trace the wings onto black construction paper and cut out. Finally trace the feet and beak onto orange construction paper and cut out. Carefully glue the tummy onto the tube so that the flat edge is at the bottom of the tube. Next you need to gently crease the wings and then glue them onto either side of the tummy. Keep in mind that creasing them before you glue them will help them stick out from the body a little. Glue on the wiggle eyes and the beak. Finally fold the feet a little bit on the edge to create tabs. You can then glue the tabs to the front inside of the tube so that the feet stick out in front of the penguin.

Variations for penguin can include: You can create an Emperor Penguin by simply coloring his belly. All you do is simply color around the outside of the belly with yellow chalk and then put a line of orange next to that. Carefully blend the colors together. You can also make a Macaroni Penguin. First cut a piece of paper that will fit around the inside of the tube. Carefully cut slits in the tube to make a fringe, and then glue it to the inside of the tube. You can also rough it up to make it look fuzzier. If the fringe is too difficult then you can use strings, yarn, or even a pom pom to make the crazy hair on the head of a macaroni penguin.
