Leprechaun Hat

Switch to Desktop/Mobile View

Leprechauns are a fun part of Irish lore. They are little men, who sport green, and can grant wishes if they are caught. They also wear hats. So, help you kid play the leprechaun by making hats that they can wear.

You will need:

You are going to start by painting the bottom of the paper plate and the outside of the paper cup green. They will be acting as the hat base, and so, they need to be green as a leprechaun hat would be green. When the paint has dried all of the way, then turn the paper plate upside down, and the glue the cup (upside down) into the center. This way it will resemble a hat.

Now, using construction paper, cut out an inch thick strip of black. You will wrap this around the cup to create the hatband. Glue it on. Then cut out a small yellow buckle.

Use as a decoration, or attach string and wear as a hat.
