In fact all you need is some imagination, a shoebox, scissors, and paint and you can create things for hours on end. One thing that you need to keep in mind is that most shoebox crafts are designed for children, but even as an adult you can still find things that you will enjoy making.

One of the most common things that you can do with a shoebox is to turn it into a letter box. These letter boxes can be used for any major holiday or it can be used to store your older letters. The best thing about this project is that it is fast and easy to do. All you need to do is get a shoebox, cut a hole into the lid of the shoebox, decorate the shoebox as you see fit and then add your letters. A hint on this project is if you want access to your letters at a later date be sure to leave the lid unglued from the rest of the shoe box, meaning make sure you can take the lid on and off.

Another great idea for shoeboxes is to create a village. You can use various size shoeboxes to create an entire city, including skyscrapers, houses, barns, etc. All you need are some shoeboxes, construction paper, scissors, and paint. After gathering your supplies you simply need to decorate the boxes to form a city to your liking. You can even put people and cars into your city.

You can also make dioramas for school or for a decoration in your room. You can choose pictures out of books; create your own scenes, and so on. In order to create the diorama you will need to gather various supplies and then lay the shoebox on its side, with the lid glued beneath so that you have a longer space to work with. Once you have the background decorated to your liking simply glue in your figures and other odds and ends, and it is ready to go.

All you need to do is to keep the shoebox stocked with certain supplies, such as beads, stickers, glue sticks, crayons, scissors, etc. Then take it out on a rainy day and let the kids enjoy creating whatever they wish.

If your children have ever wanted a fish tank but you don’t want the extra hassle that is required for caring for a fish tank, you should consider allowing them to make a fish aquarium out of a shoe box and stickers.
