Solar System Necklace

Switch to Desktop/Mobile View

A Solar System necklace is a fun craft and a fashionable way for young astronomers to remember the main parts of our solar system. Each piece of the necklace is meant to represent a part of the solar system. You may need to take a trip to the craft store if you do not have a wide variety of beads at home. All you will need are the beads and the cord for the necklace. A solar system necklace is made by taking beads that are relatively representative of the planets that they are meant to mimic. For example, a blue bead with green spots would be a great way to represent the earth; a bead that is slightly smaller than the Earth bead and red or orange in color would represent Mars. Continue in this process until you have collected at least a bead to represent all of the planets that you want to include on your necklace. You may also want to include clear beads to represent the icy outer limits of space far from the sun or small black beads to symbolize asteroids. You can make the necklace in whatever way you like. The point is that every time you look at the necklace it will remind you of some of the things that you have learned about the solar system.
