If you are beginning a new scrapbook you may be looking for a theme to work your scrapbook around. The real fun of scrapbooking is that there are no limits or even rules about what is right and wrong. The only limits you will find in designing your scrapbooks will be the limits of your imagination and creativity. Scrapbooks can range from large with 12×12 pages or can be pocket sized or even digital. You may wonder if your need a theme for your scrapbooks. Having a theme to design your scrapbook around gives it a direction and a focus. By choosing a theme for the scrapbook (or scrapbooks) you are working on it will provide you with a map on where to focus your efforts. So if you are looking to begin a new album here are some tips on creating scrapbook themes-

•Is your scrapbook for a particular person? Many mothers especially love scrapbooking an album for each child. If you choose to focus your album on a child, sibling or parent than your theme is easily determined for you. Just make sure that the album is reflective of that person’s interest, hobbies, friends etc so that the album will be meaningful to them long after you have finished putting it together.

•Is your scrapbook reflective of a particular occasion? Many occasions are large enough to warrant an entire scrapbook for them. Weddings especially bring about a plentiful supply of photos. Whether you are scrapbooking your own wedding photos or doing an album for someone else there are numerous different ways you can make wedding pages that are fun and inventive. Other occasions that work well for scrapbooks are milestone birthdays, anniversaries, graduations etc. Many scrappers also put together a holiday album complete with pictures, keepsakes and even cards from different holidays. This makes a wonderful way to look back over the holiday celebrations you and your family has been involved in throughout the years.

•Is your scrapbook showing travel? Trips are a wonderful time to take pictures not only of where you are visiting but you can often get one-of-a-kind shots of family and friends that would not be possible at home. In addition it is really fun to make travel-themed scrapbooks with all of the great destination scrapbook supplies available today. Cruises can be shown using nautical themes, car trips have their own paper and stickers and that first trip to Europe can be showcased with mementos brought home from abroad. If you do not feel that your trip warrants a whole album you may want to consider dedicating an entire album just to travel-for this trip and any others in the future. A travel album can be a wonderful way to relive your journeys both near and far.

•Is your scrapbook to show a hobby or other interest? For that die-hard soccer player or budding pianist they may love nothing more than a scrapbook showcasing what they love best. Sports, music and other hobbies are easy to showcase on scrapbook pages thanks to the creativity of scrapbook supply manufacturers. These types of scrapbooks also make lovely gifts that can be continually added to as more accomplishments and moments are recorded.

•Do you want your scrapbook to be out of the ordinary? Scrapbooking has really been raised to an art level. Perhaps you want your scrapbook to be a gratitude journal or a reflection of someone’s best qualities. You can use your scrapbook to showcase your art, photography and favorite quotes all together. Scrapbooks can even serve as pictorial journals for those looking for a different way to record their life.
