Creative Valentine’s Cards with Family Photos

Valentine’s Day is a great way to show the people in your life that you care about them. Instead of buying Valentine’s Day cards at the store, why not create your own with some family photos? So how can you create some fun Valentine’s cards with your family photos? Grab your stash of old Valentine’s cards and recycle them. Cut out different sections from old Valentines Day cards and paste them together on a new card. If you don’t have some old cards, pick up a few cheap ones at a dollar store.

You want to cut out the different things on them like hearts, the words ‘happy valentine’s day’ and ‘love’. Now, grab out some different scrapbooking supplies like stickers, cardboard cut outs, punches and cardstock paper, glitter, and ribbons. You will need a large piece of cardstock paper and arrange the different cutouts on the cardstock. Of course you need to add in a few family photos on the cover of the card along with the inside of the card.

A great way to add your family photo to the card is to copy off an 8×10 photo of your family at a 10% tint so you can still write over it. On the outside cover of the card, add some smaller pictures mixed in with the cut outs you have found from your old Valentine’s Day cards.

If you are bored with the traditional card that folds in half like a book, change it up a bit. Instead glue your card together so it has a pocket on one side. Add family photos to the outside of the card and then add a nice family picture to the inside of the card. This makes a fun Valentine’s gift for grandparents and other relatives that are in need of a new family photo for their wall. Another way to add a fun Valentine to the inside pocket of the card is to cut out a heart using construction paper and then you can glue your family picture to the construction paper.

Adding texture to the card is a great way to make it stand out from all the other Valentine’s Day cards. Use some foam instead of cardstock or construction paper. Cut out hearts with the foam and glue them to the card. Add a small bead to the middle of the foam or cut out a smaller heart in a different color of foam and add it on top of the other heart.

If you really want to get creative, don’t use cardstock and other traditional materials for a Valentine’s Day card. Instead, you should use some fabric to create the card. Get a piece of felt along with some cardboard. Glue the felt to the cardboard and make sure it completely covers both sides of the cardboard. Now, add your family pictures to both sides of the felt. If you want, cut out small bodies using the felt and then glue your faces to the bodies. This way you can make your new family picture stick to the felt in a fun way. This is a fun Valentine’s Day craft for kids.

Don’t forget about the inside of the card. While it is fun to make the outside of the card stand out, you want to give the recipient a reason to open up the card. How about placing hearts inside the card and gluing a picture of each person of your family to each heart? This is a cute way to let that special someone know how much you love them on this special day!
