Something popular or useful
In your search for crafts that are easy to sell, you must look to what is popular at the time. Go to craft boutiques and shows; go to your local craft store; do whatever you need to, to figure out what people are buying. A great way to determine if your craft will sell easily is making something that is popular and useful. People will always buy something they know they will use at home. They are also more likely to buy a craft that is unique.
The Right Target Market
Crafts that are easy to sell also have a target market in mind. Nothing is going to sell unless you create a craft of product with a target market in mind. If you’re trying to sell to everyone then you will be extremely disappointed. It’s just impossible to reach everyone with one craft idea. So keep in mind as you come up with your own craft idea that crafts that sell easily have a target market in mind.
Keep the Price Low
If you have noticed when you have been to craft boutiques or craft malls the crafts that sell the easiest are the ones that aren’t outrageously priced. One rule that many craft vendors have stuck to is to try and keep the price at twenty dollars or less. Why $20? Because for some reason or another twenty dollars is the right price; you don’t have to go home an think about whether or not you have twenty dollars to spend.
It’s just the right amount of money to ask. Crafts that sell easily are priced right. There are of course other crafts that are priced over twenty dollars that will also sell, but if you’re looking for a quick sell, then keep the price low so people don’t have to think twice about buying it.
Easily Made
Many crafts that sell well are also relatively easy to make. If you come up with this great idea but it takes a really long time to make you’re going to miss out on sales because you can’t fill orders quickly enough. A craft that sells easily is also one that can be made easily and generate enough orders to produce a lot of sales. In determining what craft to make and sell think back in your life about things that you are already good at. Don’t pick something you want to learn from scratch. It will take way too much time and effort and you won’t be able to sell enough to make money.
Now that you have a general idea and have taken a look at what “types” of crafts sell easily, let’s be a little more specific.
Crafts that you can make at home such as candles, placements, throws, photo frames or other scented items sell relatively easily because they are useful in everyone’s home. Clothing is also (obviously) useful and will sell easily too. Other craft items that sell easily are stationary, scrap booking supplies, accessories such as handbags and jewelry, and gifts for special occasions. As you can see there are a variety craft ideas to use.
