Preschool Snacks

When your child begins preschool, they will normally attend preschool for a couple of hours. This may seem no big deal to you as the parent, but to the student, this can create a huge disaster. Your preschool age child is used to routines. They eat at certain times of the days and may still be on a nap schedule. Before your child starts preschool, you will need to adjust their schedule to work with the preschool schedule.

One very important item you need to include in your preschooler’s new routine is snacks. Have your child have a snack before they attend preschool. This will help stimulate your preschooler’s brain and give them the energy and help them focus on what they are being taught and what they are working on. It will also help them to interact with the other students. Have you ever noticed when your stomach is empty and you’re hungry you are a little edgy? The same thing happens to children. Keep their tummy full with snacks that are full of nutrients.

Choosing a proper snack may take time if you have a picky child. You will need to use the foods that they like along with the foods that will give them the proper vitamins, nutrients and energy to focus while at preschool. Use some of the examples below for your child to have as a preschool snack.

· Crackers that are made with whole grain
· Muffins
· String cheese
· Mini pepperonis
· Slices of fruit, such as a banana or apple. Also try avocado, pears and peaches
· Peanut butter on bread or crackers· Celery sticks with peanut butter or cream cheese
· Cereals made from whole grain (Cheerios are popular)
· Carrots
· Yogurt
· Apple Sauce
· Cottage cheese with pears

The list of items can go on forever. Find the item that your preschooler will eat and enjoy. It may take a few rounds, but you will be able to find it.

One of the best sources you can use is peanut butter. Peanut butter is a high source or fiber and is rich in protein. Both of these nutrients are needed in your preschooler’s diet. You can use peanut butter on many things, such as crackers, bread or celery. The peanut butter that you use will not only give your preschoolers a good source of protein and fiber, but you are also giving them a good low carbohydrate snack.

With all the sources that are placed before you to use, use the sources that will give your preschooler the nutrients that they need. Filling your preschooler full of sugars will not allow the child to learn. Instead the child will be on a sugar high and will cause an issue during preschool class. Also stay away from fast food items that are full of fat and transfats. These items will slow your preschooler down and may cause them to become drowsy. If they cannot have their attention on the task taking place at preschool, they will not be able to learn and develop the skills they need later in life.

Your child may become hungry and want a snack while at preschool. Talk to the preschool teacher before you drop your student off. Ask the preschool teacher if they provide a snack for the students. If they do not, ask if your child can bring a snack in case they get hungry. If a snack is allowed, have them take a healthy snack that does not create a mess for the teacher to clean up. Apple slices are a good option for you to make as a parent. They are quick and simple to eat.

When your child begins preschool, they will normally attend preschool for a couple of hours. This may
