Carefully stir in 4 tsp. of essential oils. You can try combinations of grapefruit, lemon, lime, mandarin and\/or rosewood. Remove the mixture from heat and let the mixture cool to room temperature. Carefully add 6 ounces of lye flakes to 16 ounces of soft or distilled water. Be sure to add the lye to water and not the other way around. (When lye meets water it immediately begins to heat.) Stir constantly with a plastic spoon until it is thoroughly mixed. Let the lye mixture cool until it is at room temperature. Pour the lye mix into the oils slowly while stirring constantly. If you see bubbles you will need to stir more slowly. To test the doneness of the soap of you drizzle the soap into the pot. When it keeps its shape momentarily before sinking into the rest of the mix (tracing), you can then add 1\/2 c. chopped pieces of glycerin soaps. Stir and immediately pour into a mold greased with Crisco. Wrap the mold completely in a towel and leave it undisturbed for 18 hours. The soap mixture will heat up and then cool down. Make sure that you do not uncover it until it is cooled. You will then need to allow the soap to sit in the uncovered mold for another 12 hours. You can then loosen the sides by wiggling the mold a little. Carefully turn the mold over onto a clean counter. Carefully cut the soap into bars with a knife. Some people use a miter box to make square corners. Allow the bars to cure for 3 to 4 weeks before using. Keep in mind that smaller bars cure faster than larger ones.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
This fragrant soap is easy to make and fun to give.
