Your kids can make adorable frog picture frames out of polymer clay. Here are the items you need to get started:<\/p>\n
Green, Yellow, Red, and Black clay. You will want to have at least 4 or 5 bars of green as you will be stretching it around the picture.
Lacquer or glaze coating
Two 15mm wiggle eyes
Ruler
Paintbrush
Plastic knife<\/p>\n
Knead the clay until it is soft and smooth. Combine colors for the body, such as green and yellow. Roll the green clay into a 9 \u00c2\u00bd inch long snake. From here you will form a 3 x 3 \u00c2\u00bd wide ring. Flatten the entire ring to be about 3\/8 inch thick. This is the body of the frog. Now, you will need to make the legs and feet. Roll the green clay (or mixed colored clay) into a 3 \u00c2\u00bd inch long snake, the top needs to be 1 inch wide and the bottom will be about \u00c2\u00bc wide. Pinch and shape toes with your fingers and press grooves into the knees with the plastic knife.<\/p>\n
For the head you will need to flatten the green clay into a 1 \u00c2\u00bd” high and 2” wide oval. Press the wiggle eyes in place. Use the red clay to make a \u00c2\u00bd” wide tongue. Add freckles to the body of the frog by rolling small black circles of clay and sticking them on the body. Roll a \u00c2\u00bd” of black clay into a snake and use this as the mouth and place the tongue sticking out of the mouth. <\/p>\n
Now you can assemble all the pieces. Position the large ring section of green in the center, position and press legs into place, making sure that the bottom edges of the feet are even with each other. Press the mouth, tongue, and spots securely into place and attach the head to the body. Your picture frame is complete! Now you need to fire it in the oven at 275 for 30 minutes. Allow the frog to cool and brush the entire surface with a lacquer glaze.<\/p>\n
Now you can glue the eyes onto the frog and cut a 1\/2 inch photo to fit in the center of the frame.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
