To keep things safe when scrapbooking with kids lets first look at how to keep your kids safe while scrapbooking and then we will look at how to keep your supplies safe while scrapbooking.

Keeping your kids safe when scrapbooking can be done a few different ways. First you will want to look at the age of your kids and what is safe for them. Scissors are one of the biggest things you will need to look at. If you have young kids who are just learning to cut you will want to use blunt tipped scissors to keep any one from being stabbed or poked. You may also want to look at getting scissors that have safe plastic edges so that no little fingers get cut by accident.

In the same way that you buy and use safety scissors with your younger kids you will also want to look at any punches or other sharp objects that you may have in your scrapbooking supplies. You may let your older kids use some of these tools but the any younger kids may have trouble and get hurt. Accidents happen but you want to make sure and lessen any chances you may have with someone getting hurt.

Keep just a few supplies and tools on your workspace that is being used. In this way there aren’t a lot of hands moving all over looking for tools, papers, or embellishments. Try to let everyone helping have one or two different tools. Try to keep those tools in one area and have kids ask for those tools. Keeping an organized workspace will keep kids safe while scrapbooking. Keep inks and markers or pens away from tempting eyes so there is no chance of scrapbooking paper getting written on or inked.

To keep your tools safe while scrapbooking you will most likely need to discuss with your kids the proper way to use all the tools. Even if the younger ones are not using those tools you still need to explain to them what could happen and why they can’t use those tools yet. Explaining how to use the tools will help the tools last because they are not being used improperly. It will also keep your kids safe because they will understand the correct way to use those tools.

Keep your workspace as organized as possible when scrapbooking with kids. This will help your kids know where to look for the tools, papers, and other embellishments instead of grabbing all over the place. This will prevent any tools from being knocked over and possibly broke.

Assign certain jobs of the scrapbook to different kids. Assigning jobs to your kids will help solve any fights over tools or ideas. Your kids will know who is in charge of what job and how to best do their own job. To make things fair you may want to change the jobs every so often so everyone contributes different things to the scrapbooking project. If your kids are fighting over whom does what things can get spilled, ripped, or possibly thrown.

Keeping things safe when scrapbooking with kids requires diligence and patience. Kids just want to help and they don’t always understand what is so important about following rules in scrapbooking. It is your job as a parent or adult to keep things safe for all the kids involved when scrapbooking with kids.

Keeping things safe when scrapbooking with kids can be a hard chore to accomplish.
