The Night Before Easter<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\nAuthor Unknown<\/p>\n

‘Twas the night before Easter. All was calm and laid back.<\/p>\n
Fred, the mouse in the kitchen, snarfed down a late snack.<\/p>\n
The eggs were all dyed but still drippy and sticky…<\/p>\n
To be honest, they looked just a little bit icky.<\/p>\n
There were big jelly beans, chocolate bunnies and such,<\/p>\n
And as Fred stuffed his face, he sighed, “This is too much!”<\/p>\n
Phil and Rose were in bed watching late night TV,<\/p>\n
While munching saltines with low-sodium Brie.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Then a sudden commotion rang out in the night.<\/p>\n
It shook Phil and Rose, really gave them a fright.<\/p>\n
Phil’s hair stood on end, and his eyes bugged out big…<\/p>\n
Rose whipped off the covers and knocked off her wig.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
They lunged to the window, yanked open the blinds…<\/p>\n
What they saw was amazing; it boggled their minds:<\/p>\n
Across the night sky, with a noise like the dickens,<\/p>\n
Soared a minivan drawn by eight overgrown chickens!<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
At the wheel sat a bunny — cute, fuzzy and fat —<\/p>\n
In designer blue jeans and a Panama hat.<\/p>\n
Like a speeding space shuttle, those chickens they flew,<\/p>\n
As the van driver called to each hen in his crew:<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
“Now, Ashley! Now, Sheila! Now, Kelsey and Bo!<\/p>\n
On Bethany, Liza! On Daphne, on Flo!”<\/p>\n
The van made its landing lickety-split …<\/p>\n
Nearly wiped out the shrubs and the barbecue pit!<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Then up on the roof, much to Phil’s consternation,<\/p>\n
They squawked of egg prices and space navigation.<\/p>\n
They made so much noise that Phil started to stammer,<\/p>\n
“If you guys don’t shut up, we’ll get thrown in the slammer!”<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Fuzzy hopped down the chimney, amidst all this racket,<\/p>\n
And emerged from the fireplace, adjusting his jacket.<\/p>\n
This bunny was chic, he had class, he had flair ..<\/p>\n
Not your average bozo, not your typical hare.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
His ears were enormous; his huge overbite<\/p>\n
Was right under a nose like a pink neon light.<\/p>\n
His manner was smooth, he was hip, he was cool;<\/p>\n
This floppy-eared bunny was no fuzzy fool.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
“While I’m here,” he smiled, “Everybody relaxes …<\/p>\n
I’m not selling storm windows, won’t audit your taxes.<\/p>\n
I’m just here to bring you some fun and delight.<\/p>\n
Eat, drink, and be merry! Let’s party tonight!”<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
So they sipped diet soda and swapped silly jokes,<\/p>\n
Those birds and their bunny just being plain folks.<\/p>\n
Then flop-ears said, “Hey, friends, we’ve had quite a ball,<\/p>\n
But my chickens and I are now due in St. Paul!”<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
He crossed both his eyes. Then he wiggled one ear,<\/p>\n
And he yelled to his chicken team, “We’re outta here!”<\/p>\n
As the minivan rose in the 3 a.m. sky,<\/p>\n
He called out, “Later, Phil! And to you, Rose, good-bye!”<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
As he sped out of sight, his two friends heard him say,<\/p>\n
“Happy Easter to all! Have a beautiful day!”<\/p>\n

There’s a story quite funny,<\/p>\n
About a toy bunny,<\/p>\n
And the wonderful things she can do;<\/p>\n
Every bright Easter morning,<\/p>\n
Without warning,<\/p>\n
She colors eggs, red, green, or blue.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Some she covers with spots,<\/p>\n
Some with quaint little dots,<\/p>\n
And some with strange mixed colors, too<\/p>\n
— Red and green, blue and yellow,<\/p>\n
But each unlike his fellow<\/p>\n
Are eggs of every hue.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
And it’s odd, as folks say,<\/p>\n
That on no other day<\/p>\n
In all of the whole year through,<\/p>\n
Does this wonderful bunny,<\/p>\n
So busy and funny,<\/p>\n
Color eggs of every hue.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
If this story you doubt<\/p>\n
She will soon find you out,<\/p>\n
And what do you think she will do?<\/p>\n
On the next Easter morning<\/p>\n
She’ll bring you without warning,<\/p>\n
