Word Web is a timed<br \/>\nscrambled word game, with twenty-five letters connected with web-like<br \/>\nstrands. To form words you can either type them into the text box or drag<br \/>\nyour mouse over the letters. You’ll immediately see your word and its<br \/>\nvalue (one point for four-letter words, two points for five-letter words,<br \/>\nand so on) on the scoreboard. Cerebral Vortex is a trivia game<br \/>\n("Cultivated for its long edible root, it’s the pale unpopular cousin<br \/>\nto the carrot"), with letters appearing hangman style (_ _ _ S _ I_)<br \/>\nas the timer counts down.<br \/>\n<\/P><H2><A HREF=\"http:\/\/www.playsite.com\">Playsite<\/A><br \/>\n<\/H2><P><IMG SRC=\"https:\/\/www.surfnetkids.com\/images\/star5.gif\" ALT=\"*****\" WIDTH=\"250\" HEIGHT=\"34\"><\/P><br \/>\n<P>The Java scrambled word game Tangleword is fast and addictive, and an<br \/>\nall-time favorite at our house. You can play as a guest, but registered<br \/>\nusers (registration is free) can participate in chat during game play, and<br \/>\nget a rating that increases or decreases with play. The Tangleword board is<br \/>\na five-by-five square of letters. Words are formed by either typing or<br \/>\ndragging your mouse. If you run dry, try the "Rotate" button<br \/>\n— possible letter combinations won’t change, but your view of the<br \/>\nboard will.<br \/>\n<\/P><H2><A HREF=\"http:\/\/www.headbone.com\/games\/sometimesy\/\">Silent Sometimes Y<\/A><br \/>\n<\/H2><P> <IMG SRC=\"https:\/\/www.surfnetkids.com\/images\/star5.gif\" ALT=\"*****\" WIDTH=\"250\" HEIGHT=\"34\"><\/P><br \/>\n<P>Sometimes Y (as in "a-e-i-o-u and sometimes y") challenges you<br \/>\nto make words by adding vowels to the supplied constants (for example from<br \/>\n"dn" you can form "done," "need,"<br \/>\n"nod" and so on). Headbone Zone’s Sometimes Y game is the only<br \/>\none of today’s sites that includes SUPERVISED chat. Here’s how it works:<br \/>\nduring chat hours (11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Pacific time) you’ll find the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.headbone.com\/chat\/\">chat-version of Sometimes Y<\/a> open.<br \/>\nSilent Sometimes Y, however, is always open. Although there is no<br \/>\nfree-form chat in the silent version, you can use AutoGab to send<br \/>\npreselected phrases ("Hey, everyone!" or "I can’t believe I<br \/>\nwon!") to your opponents.<br \/>\n<\/P><P><\/P><H2><A HREF=\"http:\/\/wordzap.com\/\">Word Zap<\/A><br \/>\n<\/H2><P><IMG SRC=\"https:\/\/www.surfnetkids.com\/images\/star4.gif\" ALT=\"****\" WIDTH=\"201\" HEIGHT=\"32\"><\/P><br \/>\n<P>Word Zap (create as many words from a combination of letters as<br \/>\npossible) requires a software download (and isn’t always free), but rewards<br \/>\nyou with a wide range of playing options (some of which are free). This is<br \/>\na game you can play without an Internet connection, or you can play against<br \/>\nlive opponents via <A HREF=\"http:\/\/www.icq.com\/\">ICQ<\/A> or <A HREF=\"http:\/\/igames.com\/\">Igames.com<\/A>. When is Word Zap free? Always<br \/>\non Sundays, and always if you play on <A HREF=\"http:\/\/www.icq.com\/\">ICQ<\/A> or <A HREF=\"http:\/\/igames.com\/\">Igames.com<\/A>. When do you need to pay the $25<br \/>\nregistration fee? If you plan to play off-line or over a local area<br \/>\nnetwork on days other than Sundays.
