He told me that he had<br \/>\njust put the finishing touches on a guide that could teach<br \/>\nanyone how to create software — even if they’ve never touched<br \/>\na line of code.<\/p>\n<p>I was pretty skeptical. I thought software was the domain of<br \/>\nexperienced programmers.<\/p>\n<p>But Ben persisted and sent me a review copy of his new guide<br \/>\n“Software Secrets — Exposed!” I was curious, so I begin reading<br \/>\nthe book. And I have to say — I was quite impressed. Ben really<br \/>\nknows his stuff. He’s a former CTO (Chief Technology Officer) and<br \/>\nan “in-the-trenches” programmer.<\/p>\n<p>What really caught my eye is that Ben wrote this book specifically<br \/>\nfor people who never thought they could create software. He realized<br \/>\nthat many of us (as parents and teachers) have just the kind of<br \/>\nexperience needed to make great software products for kids, students,<br \/>\nschools, homeschoolers and families.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, since I read the book, I’ve started a notebook of several<br \/>\nchildren’s software products that I’d love to put together! The first is the decimal answer you’d get<br \/>\nfrom a calculator (43.4259). The second is the quotient with a remainder (43 R 23) along with all<br \/>\nthe “show your work” steps. The page is a bit<br \/>\nwide, though, so you’ll probably need to scroll left to right to see the whole thing. In addition to<br \/>\nthis illustrated example of long division with remainders, there are two more pages on division<br \/>\n(look for the links at the bottom of the page.) The first is an explanation of long division without<br \/>\nremainders, and the second is an explanation of long division with decimal places in the<br \/>\nquotient.<\/P><br \/>\n<A HREF=\"http:\/\/www.singlepoint.net\/users\/sbryce\/mathwork\/div1.htm\"><\/p>\n<h2>MathWork Long<br \/>\nDivision<\/h2>\n<p>http:\/\/www.singlepoint.net\/users\/sbryce\/mathwork\/div1.htm <\/A><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.surfnetkids.com\/images\/star4.gif\" alt=\"****\" width=\"201\" height=\"32\"><br \/>\n<P>MathWork is another nifty site for generating printable division worksheets (but no answer<br \/>\nkeys.) Determine the difficulty level by specifying how many digits in the divisor (the number<br \/>\nwhich divides the other number), how many digits in the quotient (the answer) and whether or not<br \/>\nto include problems with remainders (the amount left over.)
