The turkey is in the oven, and everything else is nearly done, so here I sit at my computer.<\/p>\n<p>As soon as I sent last week’s newsletter I realized that I did not wish my American readers a “Happy Thanksgiving.” Then I began to think about how the practice of wishing holiday happiness has left the personal, and spilt over into the commercial. Many businesses send holiday greetings. And I often enjoy receiving them. When I cook breakfast on school days, I don’t eat with the kids. I’m too rushed to get them out the door. But when I return from carpool, and sit down to work, I graze by their plates (yup, nobody has put them in the dishwasher!) and eat the cold remains of their used-to-be-hot breakfast.<\/p>\n<p>I just finished the grapefruit juice my son left this morning.
