Feldman\" align=\"bottom\" width=\"58\" height=\"58\"><br \/>\nDear Reader,<\/p>\n<p>Whoa! Stop the presses! Leo Quinn just forwarded me a note of gratitude sent to him by a Surfnetkids reader who purchased <a href=\"http:\/\/stnwk.com\/leoquinn\/\">his finance course<\/a> a few days ago. Because this newsletter is fast approaching its weekly deadline, Leo did not<br \/>\nhave time to ask her permission to use her name (so we won’t) but she is a real-life Surfnetkids reader … just like you! Here is her story:<\/p>\n<p>Leo,<\/p>\n<p>We downloaded everything with no problem two nights ago. Yesterday my husband called me at work and said: When are you coming home! I’ve got to show you something! <\/p>\n<p>He had spent the whole day reading about half of your book and then revising our debt diet (from Oprah) to follow the guidelines you lay out. He had made charts in Excel for every month for the next two years showing what we would be paying on each card, how much would be interest, what the minimums would be etc. We had a plan and were paying a big chunk every month (all three of our cards are at 0 percent right now) so we had headstart funds in play, but we were doing it in the wrong order. He was so thrilled and happy to show me his new charts and announce that we would be free of our credit card debt December 1, 2010. Then we’ll put that extra $2000 a month to work on the 2 cars…Our property tax (included in our mortgage payment) just went down, so we are going to ignore that fact and continue to pay the same mortgage payment putting the difference toward the principal.<\/p>\n<p>We actually had a cheerful and drama free discussion about money for the first time in ages. He estimates that we will end up paying $619 in interest on a $41,000 debt because the cards won’t be 0 percent forever, but I’m a good phone negotiator so I think we can at least keep the interest low when the 0 rate goes away next fall…he had only read half your book so I can’t wait to hear what he learned as he continued reading today.
