Feldman\" align=\"bottom\" width=\"58\" height=\"58\"> \nDear Reader,<\/p>\nIf all has gone according to plan, I am in Amsterdam as you are reading this. I am hoping to see my childhood girlfriend Cass, who lives just outside of the city. It’s been 10 years since I’ve seen her, and I am bracing myself. I recently learned that she has been suffering from Early Onset Alzheimer’s for six years now. When I learned this, I was devastated. Besides the obvious reasons for being upset upon learning of a friend’s illness, this hit me particularly hard for a couple of selfish reasons. First, Cass is my age. And second, ever since my Mom has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, I’ve been worried about my own fate. Will I end up like Mom? Losing all one’s memories and living in a state of emptiness?<\/p>\nBut none of us can see our future, and I am grateful for the life I am living today with the family and friends that surround me. Feldman\" align=\"bottom\" width=\"58\" height=\"58\"> \nDear Reader,<\/p>\nIf all has gone according to plan, I am in Amsterdam as you are reading this. I am hoping to see my childhood girlfriend Cass, who lives just outside of the city. It’s been 10 years since I’ve seen her, and I am bracing myself. I recently learned that she has been suffering from Early Onset Alzheimer’s for six years now. When I learned this, I was devastated. Besides the obvious reasons for being upset upon learning of a friend’s illness, this hit me particularly hard for a couple of selfish reasons. First, Cass is my age. And second, ever since my Mom has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, I’ve been worried about my own fate. Will I end up like Mom? Losing all one’s memories and living in a state of emptiness?<\/p>\nBut none of us can see our future, and I am grateful for the life I am living today with the family and friends that surround me.
