Happy Grads and Dads to all! We don’t have any graduations in our extended family this year, but next year we will have a really big one: my daughter will be graduating from medical school! Such a big accomplish — I still can’t quite wrap my brain around it. It’s certainly something I NEVER could have done. So proud. I may as well just start celebrating now. LOL<\/p>\n

Father’s Day is a fairly new holiday, and wasn’t given national recognition until President Richard Nixon established a permanent national observance on the third Sunday in June. Father’s Day was originally conceived in 1909 by Sonara Smart Dodd, who was raised by her dad after her mother died. Her pop’s birthday was in June, so she held the first Father’s Day on June 19, 1910 in her hometown of Spokane, Washington.<\/p>\n
