If you are plagued with an overwhelming number of popups, the culprit is either a website you are visiting or software unwittingly installed on your machine. To remove ad serving software, try Ad-Aware. To block website popups as they occur, there are popup blockers built into the Google Toolbar and Alexa Toolbar.
