Windows XP Performance

Switch to Desktop/Mobile View

To boost the performance of Windows XP, you can turn off Windows Themes, the visual effects that make XP look so cool, but can strain older computers. Select Start/Control Panel/System/Advanced/ Performance/ Settings/Visual Effects. Now choose “Adjust for Best Performance.” If you’d rather pick and choose which effects to keep, select “Custom” and use the check boxes to make your selection.
