Good news for the good guys this week, when Google and Microsoft announced that they have applied their considerable tech talents to removing child porn from the Internet. Using technology developed by Microsoft to recognize illegal photos and videos, Google’s executive chairman said, “We actively remove child sexual abuse imagery from our services and immediately report abuse to the authorities. This evidence is regularly used to prosecute and convict criminals.” These changes, while not perfect, have cleaned up the results for over 100,000 different Google and Bing queries.
