Google Launches an eBookstore

Switch to Desktop/Mobile View

In what is being billed as a major shakeup to Amazon and Barnes & Noble’s ebook business, Google’s eBookstore is now open and stocked with more than three million titles. The Google store supports Nook, Sony, Android, and iOS devices, in addition to reading from a Web browser. The books (whether free or paid) are stored and read from the cloud, requiring an active Internet connection. Most books, however, are also available for download, depending on the rights allowed by the publisher.
