Valentine’s Day: A Funny Valentine Poem

Since my Valentine got a computer,<\/p>\n
My love life has taken a hit.<\/p>\n
Nothing I say is important,<\/p>\n
Unless it’s a byte or a bit.<\/p>\n
Before she got her new laptop,<\/p>\n
Everything was just fine;<\/p>\n
Now she says we can’t talk<\/p>\n
Unless we both go online.<\/p>\n
“But honey,” I said, “I’m attached to you;<\/p>\n
Love is what I feel.”<\/p>\n
“That keyword isn’t relevant,”<\/p>\n
She said, with eyes of steel.<\/p>\n
She clicked the keyboard furiously;<\/p>\n
The screen was all she could see,<\/p>\n
And then to my horror and shame,<\/p>\n
She started describing me:<\/p>\n
“Your motherboard needs upgrading;<\/p>\n
Your OS needs help, too.<\/p>\n
And you definitely need a big heatsink<\/p>\n
To cool your CPU.”<\/p>\n
“Don’t flame me, my sweet,” I pleaded.<\/p>\n
“Not on Valentine’s Day.”<\/p>\n
“Fix the bugs, and I’ll see,” she said,<\/p>\n
While looking at me with dismay.<\/p>\n
“What ever you want, my darling;<\/p>\n
Whatever you need; you call it.<\/p>\n
I’ll upload or download anything,<\/p>\n
And then I’ll go install it.”<\/p>\n
(Her hostile CD keeps replaying,<\/p>\n
And though I don’t want to fight her,<\/p>\n
Is this what I want for a Valentine?<\/p>\n
I’ve been burned; can I rewrite her?)<\/p>\n
“Are you all hard drive now,” I asked;<\/p>\n
“Is there no software in you?<\/p>\n
Don’t you remember the good times?<\/p>\n
Let our memories see us through.”<\/p>\n
“LOL,” she said to me, chuckling.<\/p>\n
“You’re nothing but adware.<\/p>\n
I’ve got a gig of memory;<\/p>\n
I’ve got no problem there.”<\/p>\n
“Please, honey, we can save it,” I said.<\/p>\n
“Our love means more than that.”<\/p>\n
“That’s not in my cache; we’re going to crash,”<\/p>\n
She said, as she turned me down flat.<\/p>\n
(This woman has really changed;<\/p>\n
Do I really want to chase her?<\/p>\n
More and more I’m thinking<\/p>\n
It might be nice to erase her.)<\/p>\n
“Aw, honey, don’t talk like that,” I said.<\/p>\n
“Can’t we just plug and play?<\/p>\n
I hereby accept default,<\/p>\n
And I’m yours, my love, come what may.<\/p>\n
“My goal is to make you happy;<\/p>\n
I want to be your portal,<\/p>\n
But your sudden, distant coldness<\/p>\n
Would test the strongest mortal.<\/p>\n
“If we need a brand new interface,<\/p>\n
So we can FTP,<\/p>\n
I’m your go along, get along guy,<\/p>\n
And I want you to stay with me.”<\/p>\n
“If you want to get into my favorites,” she said,<\/p>\n
And you want to get past my encryption,<\/p>\n
If you want to get through my firewall,<\/p>\n
Here is my only prescription.<\/p>\n
“First, put up your own Web site,<\/p>\n
And e-mail me when it’s done.<\/p>\n
I’ll check your page rank with Google,<\/p>\n
And tell you if you’re the one.”<\/p>\n
My life has become quite a trial,<\/p>\n
Since my Valentine got a computer<\/p>\n
If I want her to care about me again,<\/p>\n
I guess I’ll have to reboot her.<\/p>\n
