What is Facebook Proxy?

by Barbara J. Feldman on December 1, 2008

Millions of people today are using Facebook and for some good reasons. Facebook is a great social networking site. It allows people to keep in touch with friends and family. With just the click of a mouse you can connect with someone that you have not seen in years. People you might never see again can stay apprised of your life. This can lead old friends to meet again and help each other out. It also helps people to meet new people. This is a very important service. It can be difficult to find people who are similar to you. Facebook can close the gap and help you to make lasting and meaningful relationships. It can also be a great way to share funny information or important family news. Because Facebook is such an important part of so many of our lives, we need to be able to keep using it, right? If you can’t use Facebook it means that you will be cut off from many people. Many people feel isolated when they cannot use Facebook. They feel like they are isolated or cut off from other people. But in what context would you not be able to use Facebook?

Actually there are several places where it might be impossible to get onto Facebook. Many businesses and schools have ways of blocking people from looking at websites that they do not want them to see. This wall is called a firewall. In many ways firewalls are good things because they can prevent really bad stuff from getting through. They also keep people from wasting precious company time while surfing the Internet or looking at bad sites.

So while firwalls prevent lots of bad things from being seen in particular places, they also can create some problems. There might not be anything wrong with looking at Facebook. So what can you do if your only access to Facebook is through some sort of outside Internet access that is not your own? Is it impossible for you to look at the website. Technology always seems to find a way. There is a way to get around firewalls that are blocking you from looking at Facebook. These devices are known as Facebook proxies.

A proxy is a server that accesses the site you are trying to look at for you , thus allowing you to look at Facebook. There are several Facebook proxies out there and you need to be careful which one you choose. Research them if you can because the information shared over that proxy server might not be safe. It is possible that someone else could be watching what you are writing. Try to use a major one that other people are using. There could be some hackers out there posing as someone that provides a proxy.

With a Facebook proxy you should be able to break through those annoying firewalls and use Facebook and all of its features. This means that you will be able to look at friends’ profiles and send messages again. This could be a big relief if you have been without Facebook access for a while. It seems that while technology creates certain problems it often finds a solution that will fix them for you. Look around online for a good proxy server. Don’t allow a school firewall to prevent you from precious communication with your friends and family. You need to stay in touch with those people and Facebook proxies are an important part of the process. A good Facebook proxy could have you back in business in no time!
