Here are some costumes that do not require any sewing. They are fast and easy to put together.
1. American Flag- You will need a navy blue sweat shirt and red sweat pants. Cut stars out of white contact paper and stick to the shirt, and use white tape to make stripes down the pant legs.
2. Angel costume-Use a simple white hospital gown and glue silver sequins onto lace and add to neck and wrists. Tie the waist with a silver ribbon. This is a simple costume, and it is easy to get on and off since the hospital gown ties in the back! You can use it as a princess costume by adding a tiara or make an angel by adding wings and a halo.
3. Bag of Jelly Beans- You will need: Small colored balloons, clear, cellophane wrap and colored ribbon. Have the child wear white tights and a body suit. Blow up the balloons, keeping them small enough that they look like jelly beans. Make a loose bag around the body out of the cellophane. Place the balloons “in the bag” around the child’s body. Tie with the ribbon loosely around neck (under arms for children or if neck is uncomfortable). Make a sign using cardboard or that says “Jelly Belly the Gourmet Jelly bean” or something similar. Tape or glue sign onto front of “bag”.
4. Black Cat costume- Make this simple black cat costume using only a sweat suit and a few other supplies. Have the costume wearer put on a black sweat suit. Make a Cat Ear Headband to wear. Use felt or even construction paper and cut out a long thin tail; use a safety pin and attach it to the back of the sweat pants. Use black eye liner or face paint and make a whiskers and a black nose.
