One of the many fun things you can do on Valentine’s Day is make crafts. However, you probably do not want to spend your whole day making Valentine’s Day crafts, so the following are a few ideas of Valentine crafts for adults that only take about ten minutes to complete:
The Valentine magnet board: This is a fun Valentine’s Day craft you can do for your children. What you need is paint, sand paper, and a magnet board that is unfinished. You can pick these things up at your local craft store. Sand the wooden frame, paint, and let dry. Then you can stencil paint your child’s name, or glue on little wood cut outs or anything like that. This makes a fun easy craft that can be used to display their valentines. You can take this craft to the next level by making your very own magnets as well. Or, if you want a more in depth craft, you can use modge podge glue to adhere scrapbook paper to the wooden frame instead of paint. However, this takes a lot longer.
The tissue paper flower bouquet: For this craft you need one package of multicolored tissue or crepe paper, one package of green pipe cleaners, and a pair of scissors. Take four to five sheets of the tissue paper and layer them (if you want multicolored flowers, use different colors). Then, cut these layered papers into 8-inch squares. Keeping the sheets layered, take one set of squares and fold it like an accordion so it looks like a thin rectangle. At the center of the rectangle, cut a small v-shaped notch on both sides. Take the end of a pipe cleaner and twist it around the notch. With the stem pointing straight down, gently pull up one layer of tissue into the center. Pull up the remaining layers, one by one. Repeat for the other side of the flower. Once all the layers are pulled up, fluff them in place to look natural. You should have a very cute flower. So just repeat this process, and continue making more flowers with the remaining stacks of squares or until you have the size of bouquet you want.
Beaded bracelets: This is a great Valentine’s Day craft that embodies one of the traditional Valentine gifts—jewelry! For this craft you are going to need an assortment of beads, metal accents, etc. You will need beading wire, crimpers, and a clasp of some kind. You will want scissors to cut your wire, and a crimping tool or pliers. Cut your bracelet to slightly larger than the length you want. Using a crimper, attach one end of your clasp. Now bead your bracelet. For a fun look use seed beads, metal accents, and larger beads. Once you have your bracelet beaded with only about an inch of wire left, put a crimper on your wire, attach the other side of your clasp, and using your pliers, crimp the end of the wire through the crimper. Cut off excess, or thread back through the beads. This makes a fun home made gift, and a great piece of jewelry. You can add another dimension to this craft by creating your own jewelry box to put this bracelet in. You can take a premade box and cover it yourself and decorate, or you can make one yourself. Either way have fun!
