If you are a big enthusiast for scrapbooking your kids may like it too. Scrapbooking with kids can be easily done and can be a fun bonding experience for the whole family. Scrapbooking with your kids can be a way to relive memories and important events that happened in your family. It can also give your kids a creative outlet to help them express and show their artistic ideas. Scrapbooking with kids can be as easy or as hard as you want to make the project. The projects you choose to do should be age appropriate so that the younger kids don’t get frustrated. In the long run scrapbooking with kids can be beneficial to everyone involved.
When starting to look for ideas or projects to do when you are scrapbooking with kids you will want to look at the ages of your kids and find appropriate ideas for them to use. It will only be frustrating for all involved if you buy and use scrapbooking supplies that no one can use. You will also need to have an open mind when scrapbooking with kids. You want your kids to feel a part of the scrapbooking so listening and implementing their ideas every once in awhile is a good idea, even if their ideas don’t always go with the theme of the scrapbook. Your kids will be proud that they could help.
You won’t want anything too hard for the younger kids. Sticking to simple gluing and cutting will be great for those younger kids. They can learn valuable skills while also being a big kid and helping out mommy. You can also use smaller journal books for your younger kids to make their own scrapbook. If you let them have their own little scrapbook you can give them some of your extra supplies to use. The kids will enjoy making something of their very own and you won’t have to worry about finding easier projects for them to do on your scrapbook.
Scrapbooking with kids that are school age can be done much the same way. School age kids can do more cutting and gluing or taping then some of the younger kids. Keep in mind what kind of skills they have and how good they are. Try to make a scrapbook that will fit into their skill area and maybe a little harder just to push them a little more. There are scrapbooking kits you can buy for these school age kids for them to do their own scrapbook of friends, family, or their own likes or dislikes.
For older kids that are in Jr. High or High School you can still cater the scrapbook project to their skills. Teenage kids are more skilled then some of the younger ones and are more willing to try some of the newer tools. These kids can do some of the more advanced scrapbooking techniques and won’t always need careful supervision. For your teenage kid you can also buy scrapbooking kits for them to use. You can also allow your teenager to make their own scrapbook chronicling their years in high school.
When scrapbooking with kids it can be a good idea to stick with themes. This makes it easier to create the scrapbook together because everyone is then clear on what the scrapbook is supposed to include. You may also want to stick with just one or two colors so that the younger kids don’t have so many choices and it is easier to keep the color scheme the same.
Remember that scrapbooking with kids should be fun and enjoyable for everyone involved. Your kids will get to spend time with you and you can finally catch up on your scrapbooking.
