The age of your child will make a difference on what type of them you are looking at and how much work will go into your themed scrapbook. Younger kids don’t always need a big scrapbook. You can make a small one just for them to carry around and show off. They will like helping you no matter how big or small. Having your younger help you out will also help your kids with their motor skills. Some ideas for kids younger then 5 who like to help with your scrapbooking are:
•Favorite animals-Let your children take the animal pictures or find them for themselves in magazines. Use patterned papers that will allow the kids to match up prints and animals.
•Things that are the same color-This is especially great for kids when they are beginning to learn their colors. They can find things that are the same color and take pictures or cut them out of magazines. Let them glue them onto colored papers to put into the scrapbook you are making together.
•Letters of the alphabet-This is much the same as same color scrapbooks except you can use this for older kids. Again, your children can find or take the pictures to go along with the letters. They can also write the letters themselves to add into the scrapbook for a little bit of journaling.
For kids that are a little bit older you can add more work and bigger scrapbooks if you like. Remember that this is for your kids and you to enjoy together. Keep in mind the type of skills your child has and how focused they will be on the project. You may need to do a lot of smaller scrapbooks for some kids and others will like to do one big scrapbook.
