Don?t plan on vacationing in New Orleans during Mardi Gras unless you are coming specifically for Mardi Gras. Mardi Gras is also the worst time to experience the "real New Orleans" as the entire city is centered around the parades. Mardi Gras in New Orleans is a must do. But if wherever you live locally has a community of those who celebrate it (including New Orleans and the surrounding areas, for that matter), try to see if you can celebrate it with them.

They have way more Mardi Gras ahead of them, you don't need to give them the beads from the limited number of Mardi Gras years left in your future. The peer pressure cringe. When one person gives the throws they catch to kids then people around them feel bad for not doing the same so then they also give the kids more throws.

Mardi Gras: How did the bared breasts for beads tradition get started? It never made sense to me why so many women would reveal themselves for novelty jewelry? Were the beads once worth something at the end of the party? Or is this just part of the general debauchery of the celebration? Archived post.

Mardi Gras great for kids, Bourbon Street is not. I can understand how a tourist/outside like yourself can think Mardi Gras and The French Quarter/Bourbon Street are one in the same, but the reality is you can experience everything Mardi Gras has to offer and be miles away from the French Quarter. Please, come, bring the fam, have a great time. But Bourbon Street would be for adults, yes.

Well, the Mardi Gras and the Celebration are the largest ships in the fleet. We cruised the Celebration on a full ship in August. We learned the first show night that we need to get to Center Stage early for a seat. So we adjusted that for the future and it worked out. We had no trouble playing trivia, karaoke, and piano bar sing alongs.
