I can use as much help as I can get...I have never done any crabbing before but it sounds like so much fun I would really love to try it. My family and I will be staying in Frisco for a week over Memorial Day weekend.
Is Memorial day too early for crabbing the Chester??

We're always crabbing Memorial Day weekend. Counting down the days until the cold goes away and we can head south and play.
Staying in OBX memorial day week, how can I catch crabs?

I plan on camping in Oregon Inlet and Frisco. I was thinking of trying to drop pots off of a bridge with the kids.

(c) Between 2 hours before sunrise to 9 hours after sunrise on Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, and the day immediately preceding each of those holidays. (4) Crab pots already on board a boat at the end of the time periods specified in §A (1) (c) of this regulation may be set during a period of 1 hour immediately following those time periods.

Crabbed the river on Sunday 5/16. Ran 20 topless traps baited with chicken necks but added chunks of menhaden to kick it up a notch.

Thompson Creek is only good for quality crabs from 2nd week of may til @first full moon in june. Just my 2 cents ..I crab there @ memorial day every year and do really good. Mid summer most crabs seem to be whiteys. You also catch a lot of doublers and females. I bet in the fall its good, but I go to the chester for the black fatdaddy's. Phil ...
